“Walk for a Cure”
Woodsboro High School National Honor Society and Student Council hosted a "Walk for a Cure" during and after the football game on Friday, November 3rd. During and after the football game, purple balloons were displayed for Cancer Survivors and white balloons were displayed for loved ones who lost their life to Cancer. Family members from Woodsboro donated $2.00 for each balloon that was displayed at the football field. Names of cancer survivors and loved ones who lost their life to cancer were recognized and announced during the football game.
After the game, Woodsboro faculty and staff, students and community members joined together to walk around the track. Then the group collected all the balloons and joined as a community to release the balloons to remember our survivors and our lost loved ones.
This joyous and memorable event will be an annual event during our football season. Thank you to all who walked and made a donation at the walk, who purchased balloons that were displayed at football field for their loved ones and student council and NHS members and sponsors for inflating balloons, making name tags and tying the balloon to the football stands at the football field. A special “Thank you” to Valeria Garza, MacKenzie Jones and Mr. Jason Jones for assisting Mrs. Escobar at the Football field. Thank you to Superintendent Janice Sykora, Principal Dr Linda Garza, Woodsboro ISD Board Members, Photographer Mr. Richard Fierova, Students of Woodsboro and all the Community members of Woodsboro for making this a very special event.
All proceeds collected from the balloons and the walk will be donated to the Leukemia /Lymphoma Society and American Cancer Society.
